What sad news. Amy was a classmate of my wife and myself in the language course, and she always struck us as strong in her grasp of Anishinaabemowin. As we are a virtual class, we had not met our fellow classmates in person, so we were very happy to have met Amy last December in Ottawa where we were all attending the AFN Assembly as vendors. It was wonderful to meet her and over the couple of days, we shared talk about the language, family stories and enjoyed a few good laughs. She was even kind enough to offer us gala dinner tickets. I am sorry we will not have the opportunity to share more of those laughs. Our sincerest condolences to her family and friends.

To our family who have lost a woman who was a bridge between 3 cultures, dedicated, responsible, fun, thoughtful. She attacked every day with resilience and purpose. You will be greatly missed by all who knew you. Without your laughter the world is going to be an emptier place. As we work through our grief send your spirit to comfort and heal the family you have left behind.
