Bettie Adams, of Lion’s Head, and previously of Tobermory, passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health System Lion’s Head on Saturday January 24, 2026, surrounded by her family. Elizabeth “Bettie” Mae Adams (nee Gibbons) at the age of 97 years. Dear mother of Judy Adams, and Layne Adams, both of Tobermory. Beloved Nana to many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Missed and loved by lifelong friends and neighbours, Kathleen and Winston Hollis. Bettie was “Nana” to everyone who knew her. Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Elizabeth “Lizzie”; her husband, Tom (2005); son, Rodney (2006); brothers, Richard, Oscar, and Bev; and by Tom’s many brothers and sisters. Family wish to thank the staff of the Golden Dawn Nursing Home, and the Lion’s Head Hospital for the wonderful care given to Bettie. A service to celebrate Bettie’s life will be conducted from the Tobermory Community Centre, 7420 Hwy 6, Tobermory on Saturday January 31, 2026 at 1 o’clock, with visitation from 12-1 PM. Spring interment in Dunks Bay Cemetery. Donations to the Tobermory Health Services Auxiliary would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas C. WATCH SERVICE

A service to celebrate Bettie’s life will be conducted from the Tobermory Community Centre, 7420 Hwy 6, Tobermory on Saturday January 31, 2026 at 1 o’clock, with visitation from 12-1 PM. Spring interment in Dunks Bay Cemetery.

    Judy, Layne and families.
    Very sorry to hear the passing of your Mom, the good thing she had lived a great life and she was certainly ready to go.
    We enjoyed our visits at Golden Dawn ,wish I had of been there oftener in the last few months.

    My deepest condolences to Bettie’s family who she loved so dearly and of whom she was very proud. A true Matriarch. The picture of Bettie says it all with her ever present smile. The smile that was so freely given to all who met her. She will be so missed by her many friends those, of many years and newer ones like myself. Although I only had the pleasure of knowing Bettie in the last few years after becoming a neighbour, I treasure the time I spent with this wonderful lady.

    Judy, Layne and family… Sincere condolences for the loss of your mom. Aunt Bettie and I would have great laughs on the phone when I would call for a brief hello. In her younger years she and my mom Edna would have fun adventures like berry picking and playing nine holes at the golf course. She will certainly be missed.

    My sincere sympathy to Bettie’s family. I will miss our visits on Friday afternoons when I came to the Golden Dawn to assist with Bingo. We always had a little chat before Bingo started. She will be deeply missed…cherish the memories❤️

    She was a grand lady and always enjoyed company. We will miss her.

    Bettie and Tom were so very kind to us when we arrived in Tobermory. We truly enjoyed the wonderful music of the very talented Adams Family. Bettie also had some awesome stories.

    I got to know Betty after she came to live at Golden Dawn. She loved her little set up there with her table and chair and pretty things to welcome visitors. She never went out without looking her best, earrings and all. She shared some fun memories with Gloria and some others about their peninsula lives when things were different and they sure seemed like fun times to me – hard though too . Susanne Smith
