In his 96th year, John Beverley Kerr (Bev) passed peacefully, and surrounded by love, on May 24, 2024. Bev was most honoured to have been married to the love of his life, Bernice Kerr, for over 75 years. He was the proud father of Keith Kerr (Carol), Rick Kerr (Jeanette), John Kerr (Jean Ann), Jim Kerr (Carol), Sharon Dupuis (Jeff), and Dan Kerr (Sandi). He was cherished by his grandchildren Krista Hawthorn (Rob), Brandon Kerr (Holly), Lindsay McArthur (Shawn), Cayley Stanko (John), Tiffany Kerr, Kersten Dupuis-Waud (Garrett), Scott and Keith Fletcher, and his 9 great-grandchildren. Survived by his brother, Ork Kerr of Collingwood. Predeceased by his wife Bernice, his son and daughter-in-law Keith and Carol Kerr, his granddaughter Tiffany Kerr, and by his sister Bonnie Koebel. Bev was a man of incredible strength. Through all the chapters of his life, he demonstrated strength of character as he worked harder than most, to provide for his family with his scrap yard. He showed strength in temperance and was known to be a man of few words, but made the words he did share count. His strength in transcendence was apparent every day in his appreciation for the beauty of nature surrounding his home, the love of a good joke, and his gratitude for all of life’s simple pleasures. Most importantly, Bev showed strength of heart. He loved beyond measure and was one of the kindest souls anyone who knew him could have the honour of knowing. The family would like the extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at St Joseph’s Medical Centre for their incredible care and compassion. Visitation will take place Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 10:00-1:00 at The Wiarton Salvation Army Church, 576 Edward St., Wiarton, ON. Funeral and reception to immediately follow. Arrangements made from the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, Wiarton (519) 534-5341. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Wiarton Salvation Army, Please Bring Me Home, or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
