Bruce Ellis - Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral & Chapel

Bruce Melbourne Ellis – of Wiarton, peacefully at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Chesley on Wednesday November 1, 2023 at the age of 72 years. Dear brother of Vicki Ellis and Robert Ellis, of Wiarton; and uncle to Tami Kropf, of Kitchener, and Kelli Driscoll, of Wiarton; and brother-in-law of Lezlie Ellis, of Wiarton. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and chosen family, Tabatha Kryg, of Wiarton. Predeceased by his parents, Percy and Margaret (nee McGinn); sister, Anna-Jane McKnight; and brothers, Perry Ellis, John Ellis, Ron Ellis, and Mike Ellis. Bruce retired after many years as a skilled brick layer having worked throughout Ontario and Michigan. He loved to share his stories that usually meant a laugh at his expense. He enjoyed his property on Manitoulin Island, his little slice of paradise. Outside of the famous fish and chips which were always part of the trip, what happened on Manitoulin stayed on Manitoulin (unless of course he had captured it on video to share)! In years passed he loved being a cook at the hunt camp and more recently making rice krispie treats for Vicki. Bruce enjoyed finding a good deal at an auction especially when it helped to grow his collections whether coins, stamps, radios or gramophones. His support of the Legion for the past 30 years was integral to who he was. In his retirement he enjoyed honing his golf skills at Northern Dunes hopeful that one day he would be the “senior” champion! His love of the Senators was even more evident when he could report they had beaten the Leafs. Bruce enjoyed life to the fullest and had the stories to prove it. Family invite friends to gather for a Memorial Gathering to celebrate Bruce’s life at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Saturday November 11, 2023 from 2-4 PM, with a Time of Sharing at 3 o’clock. We were so sad to hear of the passing of Bruce Ellis. We have many memories of Bruce and his visits to our home to welcome us to the area and the Legion Branch 208 when we moved up here from Cambridge almost 7 years ago. His stories will be missed as well as his companionship over our 7 years the end of this month. He loved to cook and I shared a crock pot story the first year that resulted in a new crock pot given to us by Bruce after a mishap in the kitchen at the time. We shared many a laugh over this incident. I will cherish my crock pot and remember him every time I use it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and many friends that Bruce had. You will be missed by many and never forgotten for the work you did in helping Branch 208. Rest In Peace now Bruce. George, Mary Kitchen and family.

We are so sorry to hear about your loss of Bruce. We have liked the Ellis family since we moved here in 1986. It won’t be the same to not see him at Tim Horton’s or on the street. Please accept our sympathy at this sad time. He will be missed by many for sure.

My condolences to all of Bruce’s family. I met Bruce in high school. Man could he pitch a ball. I’m saddened he leaves this earth a little early. He leaves a legacy of fond memories for us all to remember.
