David “Dave” Corbett, of Sauble Beach, suddenly at Brightshores Health System – Wiarton on Sunday October 19, 2025. David Thomas Corbett at the age of 75 years. Devoted husband and best friend of Susan “Sue” (nee Chidlow) for over 49 years. Proud father of Chris Corbett, and Jen (husband Nathan Hutchinson), all of Burlington. Cherished grandfather of Talon, Kai, and Samantha. Dear brother of Mary Houston (late Owen McManamon), of Guelph, John Corbett (Debbie), of Windsor, and Kelly (Muray Milton), of Etobicoke; and brother-in-law of Stephen Chidlow (Shelley), of Durham. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, and many friends. Predeceased by his parents Bill and Rolande Corbett; and a brother, Paul Corbett.
A cherished husband, father, papa, and friend, Dave lived a full and vibrant life, marked by laughter, generosity, and an adventurous spirit. Dave’s passions were many, spending his younger years on the ice and ball diamond playing hockey and baseball in old-timers leagues. As time passed, he found new joy on the golf course, in the curling rink, and traveling the world with his family and friends. A true beach lover, Dave found his greatest happiness with sand between his toes and grandkids by his side, jumping through the waves at the beach he proudly called home. For over 15 years, Dave dedicated himself to volunteering with the Salvation Army, a cause close to his heart. He was never happier than during the holiday season, taking his place at the donation kettle— often in a Santa suit—spreading cheer and warmth to everyone who passed. This Christmas will feel a little colder without his familiar smile and hearty “Ho Ho Ho.” Dave spent 33 dedicated years working at Ford Motor Company, where he built not only a career but lifelong friendships. Dave Corbett’s life was one of quiet strength, constant giving, and joyful presence. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, humour, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. Dave’s family wish to express their gratitude to the First Responders, and to the doctors and nursing staff of the Wiarton Hospital ER department.
You are invited to Memorial Gathering at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041 on Saturday November 1, 2025 from 1-3 PM, with a Time of Sharing at 2 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wiarton Salvation Army Food Bank would be appreciated. Condolences may be expressed online at www.whitcroftfuneralhome.com
Rest well, Dave. The waves will be waiting.

October 21, 2025 at 3:41 pmDave was a good friend gone much too early. I think what the family said in his obituary – “a life of quiet strength, constant giving and joyful presence” – describes the Dave I knew. We shared fun times at the Allenford Curling Club – both on the ice and working on club projects together – and for the last several years, my golf buddy and I have walked the Chesley golf course together on a daily basis. You and Dave were a great team Sue and I know how much you will miss him. Our heartfelt condolences to you, Chris, Jen and your entire family.

October 22, 2025 at 12:04 pmDear Sue, Jen, and Chris it’s with a very sad heart I send this message. I remember back in the 1970’s we were all so very close with the ford motor company. Sharing, picnics, dances, and Christmas parties. House league hockey. Dave and myself were the worse skaters on the team, always helping each up off the ice. Watching all our children grow as we the parents did also. Then retirement starting coming and one by one we departed and moved on with our lives. I remember Dave taking up color glass hobby. We may have not seen each other for years, but my fond memories of the Corbett family stay with me. I remember when you were all so excited to go on your trip to Australia. That long beautiful white fish Dave was so proud of in your fish tank. Anyhow I wish you all the best. Take care, god bless. Jocko

October 25, 2025 at 7:35 amDear Sue and Family . I can’t express enough the sadness i felt at Dave’s passing . Dave was always the catalyst of so many of our events and always so inclusive of us all . We 70 something retirees often say we grew up at Ford . Witnessing each others weddings , Celebrating the arrival of each others children .Watching our families grow at union picnics and Christmas parties . I will never forget the great fun of playing ball hockey with Dave and our many parties not to celebrate our victories (very few ) but rather our camaraderie .Our Ottawa rafting trip photos still adorn our walls an other Corbett inspired adventure . Our payday lunch runs were always memorable filled with laughter
and stories . Every sunny day would witness Dave faithfully marching across the parking lot taking up station on the earth berm to soak up the sun . When I shattered my leg and was off work i received a call from Dave . Dave having also fallen and injured himself badly understood how isolating these things can be and called to encourage me in my healing . Dave and Diane shared a Birthday and a toast was always raised to Dave’ s health on that day .Henceforth we shall toast the memory of a Wonderful man .
Our hearts goes out To Sue and Jen and Chris and all who Loved Dave
