Thinking of Dave’s family at this sad time. We always enjoyed Dave & Martha minor hockey support with their son, Caleb and our son, Michell, over the years. We were happy to see Dave last winter at a hockey game and catch up. He was very proud of his family. RIP Dave

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Super Dave. Although I didn’t know him well, our brief interactions left a lasting impression on me. Whenever I jogged past his home and he was outside enjoying the day, he would always offer me water—such a simple gesture, yet one that showed genuine kindness and care. I will always remember that thoughtfulness.

May his family find comfort in the memories you shared with him, and may the warmth he showed to others continue to live on through all of you.

Met Dave way back in 1974 at Frank Lavalley’s home at Cape Croker. We were just kids in our junior year of high school. We’ve remained very good friends all those years. Dave was always funny with his crazy sense of humour and always good to talk to about anything. You will be missed brother. Fly high.

To the family of David “Super Dave” Keeshig,
I was deeply saddened to learn of Dave’s passing. I had the privilege of meeting him when we built the new water treatment plant in Neyaashiinigmiing, where he served as the operator. Dave did an amazing job—professional, dedicated, and always with that quiet strength and kindness that made him stand out. Every time I came up for a visit, talking with him was the highlight; he had such a great way about him, full of warmth and good humor.
I truly wish I’d had the chance to see him one more time. He was a really great guy, and the community is poorer for his loss. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you—his children, grandchildren, siblings, and everyone who loved him. May you find comfort in the many memories of his generosity, his service as Fire Chief and in so many other ways, and the way he cared for people and the land.
    With deepest sympathy and respect,
    Peter Luce
