Of Neyaashiinigmiing, peacefully at Brightshores Health System Wiarton on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Anna Doris Pedoniquott (nee Chegahno) at the age of 82 years. Dear mother of Brian (Rhonda), David (Marylynne), Martha, Nancy (Barry Diamond), Anthony “Tony”, and Peter (Adrian). Cherished grandmother of Deanna, Thomas, Cassandra, Paul, Cecily, Caleb, Alicyn, Jessica, Emarie, Lui, and Hunter; and great-grandmother of Nathan, Tanner, Madison, Alexis, Zaagidwin, Clayton, Christian, Mason, Trent, Ada, Lila, Malcolm, Hazel, Mya, and Lucy. Devoted sister of Carol (Wayne Stevens), Lynn Chegahno, Peter Chegahno, Norris Chegahno (Sandi Boyd), and William “Bill” Chegahno (Andrea). Sadly missed by her brothers-in-law, Gary Morris, and Joe Robison; nephews, Mike, Fred, Vincent, Clifton, Neal, Roger, Brandon, Jody, Eric, and Jesse; niece, Samantha, and special friend Sheila Armor-Keeshig. Predeceased by her parents, Peter and Jessie Edna (Smith); husband, Clayton; infant son, Phillip; brothers, Chester Smith, Beverly Chegahno, and Ozzie Pedoniquotte; sisters, Joyce Morris, Reva Robison, and Pat Chegahno; and nephews, Jacob Chegahno, and Jason Robison. Friends are invited to visitation at the Cape Croker Community Centre, Neyaashiinigmiing, on Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM, and on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A service to celebrate Doris’ life will be conducted from the Cape Croker United Church, Neyaashiinigmiing, on Thursday September 21, 2023 at 11 o’clock a.m. Interment in Little Port Elgin Cemetery. Donations in her memory, can be made to the to Maadookii Seniors Centre. Doris was a life-long crafter, sewer, beader, teacher and mentor to the community. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas C. Friends are invited to visitation at the Cape Croker Community Centre, Neyaashiinigmiing, on Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM, and on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.     My condolences to the family for the loss of their mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great aunt etc. She was such a kind spirit and we wiill all meet her again and she leaves such a loving and kind family. I will miss her dearly and her smile and kindness.

    I am very sorry to hear of the passing of your cherished mother and grandmother. I was happy I had the opportunity to visit Doris this summer. It was a lovely visit with lots of happy memories and laughter shared. Doris was a childhood friend of mine and I will miss her. Condolences to all of Doris’ family and friends.
