Jack Edward Brown, suddenly at Brightshores health system Wiarton on Wednesday August 26th 2026. Beloved son of Sam and Linda Brown of Wiarton. Dear father of Jack “J.J.” and Jace Brown, both of Owen Sound. Much loved brother of Mark Brown (Renée Ouellette), of Georgian Bluffs. Sadly missed by Johanna Brown; and by his many nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. Predeceased by his grandparents Syl and Nita West, and Jack and Edna Brown. Family wish to express their gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff of the Wiarton hospital for their tremendous care of Jack. A casual come and go visitation will be hosted at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton on Monday August 31, 2026 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Cremation to follow. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Sam, Linda and the whole family are such great friends and neighbours. We watched Jack grow up, taught him at WDHS, followed as he competed in high level sport, coached him in school basketball and badminton, and watched as he overcame so many things in life. There will be a little emptiness on McNaughton Street that will feel strange, but we also know Wiarton is a great community and the memories of Jack will be shared, reflected upon and enjoyed in the coming months. August 28, 2026 at 8:25 amJack reffed me in hockey when I was younger, and I’ll always remember those days. He was always good for a laugh, and he had a way of making the rink a little more fun.
I didn’t see Jack for years, but we ended up crossing paths again through slo-pitch. When I decided to start the River Rats slo-pitch team, Jack came out to play with us as our pitcher. What made it even better was that he was playing with a bunch of 20-year-olds he used to ref in hockey.
Jack ended up playing with us for a number of years in league and all of our tournaments and I’m really glad we got that time together. It was pretty special getting to play with him all those years later.
Rest easy, Jack. Thank you for the laughs, the memories, and for being a part of so many good moments. You’ll be missed. ❤️
