Larry Krieg July 20, 2026

Larry Krieg, of Owen Sound, died peacefully at the age of 78 years at Chapman House Residential Hospice, Owen Sound, on Monday July 20th, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. Larry Wilfred Krieg, was the beloved husband and best friend of the late Ruth Krieg (June 2025) for over 55 years. Dear father of Troy and his wife Patricia, of Wiarton, and Anita, of Owen Sound. Cherished grandfather of Trent, Cayley, and Calvin. Much loved brother of: Karen (Howie Wagner) of Kitchener, Debi Powell of Burgoyne, and Bette (Pete Cowie) of Kitchener, and Dave Krieg (Norma) of Pike Lake. Brother-in-law to: Penny Henry (Pat) of Lion’s Head, Sheila (Gary Gilbert) of Wiarton, Gail Bray (late James) of Milverton, and Doug Henry (Pat) of Chatsworth. Sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Harold and Blossom Krieg and his sister Pat Krieg as well as Ruth’s parents; Clayton and Gwendolyn and his brother-in-law, Wayne Henry (Freda).
Larry was well known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his pipe and steamfitting community (Local UA 527). The majority of his career was at Bruce Power but his employment also took him to Calgary and Kitchener-Waterloo and back to the Bruce where he eventually retired. When Larry came home he put in his second shift either helping friends or family with a project or taking his kids and later on his grandkids to a hockey or baseball game or practice. When in need, Larry would get up from the stands and help coach. Whether it was sports or the trades, Larry believed that if boys can do it, girls can do it too. Larry loved being with friends at Mountain Lake Camp, sitting around the fire and shooting the breeze while listening to his favourite country music.
Family wish to express their gratitude to Dr. Aboo and the oncology team at Brightshores Hospital for the care of Larry through his years of treatment. Thank you also to the homecare team at VON and Care Partners; all the nurses, PSW staff and paramedics. Thank you to Sally (Sally’s Pharmasave) and her pharmacy team who provided amazing service.
We cannot thank the doctors, nursing staff, and incredible volunteers of Chapman House enough for the amazing care and compassion provided to Larry during his last weeks.

Uncle Larry will be sadly missed. I will always remember how he would give us the lifesaver books at Christmas when we were kids, how he had such a great sense of humour, and his extreme kindness when he built the arbor for Chris and my wedding, and then allowed some of our guests to stay with him and Aunt Ruth. Rest in peace, Uncle Larry
