Maybelle Rudd - Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral & Chapel

Maybelle Rudd passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health System Wiarton on Monday September 22, 2025. Gone but forever cherished by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Born Shirley Maybelle West on September 8, 1929 in Sauble Beach. She was 96 years old. Most cherished mother of Kandy (Al), Randy (Shelley), Cindy, and Angela (Wade). Loving wife of the late George Rudd (2014) for 58 years. Very special Nana to Shawna, Bobbi-Jo, Kara (Shawn), Timothy (Carrie), Bethany (Chris), Mathew, Ethan (Paige), Aidan, and great-nephew Ryan. Much loved great-Nana to Reed (Vanessa), Kennedy (Aiden), Camryn, Maddox, Kaidin, Ryden, Sierra (Austin), Brielle (Spencer), Sylar, Daxen, Jaelyn, Mason, Everly, and Isla; and great-great-Nana to Leighton. Loving sister to Sharon Wright, Larry West (Donna); and sister-in-law to Gerry West. Special sister-in-law to Vicki Thomas. Predeceased by her parents Edward West and Annie (Rouse) West; brothers Gordon West (Gwen), Sylvester West (Nita), Doug West, Angus West; and sister Wilda Hannah (Ellis). Predeceased by infant sisters, Nellie and Geraldine; grandson David (2016); nephew Rodney (2025); sister-in-law Doris (Jack); and brother-in-law Bill. Thank you to Dr. Megan Grigg for her exceptional care of mom over the past few years and to the staff of Wiarton Brightshores Health System nurses (She loved them all). Our heart felt thanks to the CCAC team of nurses and PSWs for your loving care of Mom over the years. Lots of celebrations and lots of laughs as well as many tears shed at Moms kitchen table. ‘If kitchen tables could talk’. Family invites you to gather with them for a Service Celebrating Maybelle’s Life on Thursday September 25, 2025 at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford Street, Wiarton. Visitation 1-2 pm. Funeral 2 pm. Interment to follow in Bayview Cemetery Wiarton. Donations to the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation, or the Ontario SPCA would be appreciated. Maybelle was a remarkable woman and will be deeply missed by so many. Her kitchen table was always a welcoming place and “home” for young and old, friend and family, loved one or stranger. Her turkey dinners were fantastic, and somehow, no matter how large the family grew, she never forgot a birthday! I have many fond memories of the years spent as part of the Rudd family.
