“Peg” Margaret Anne Bilyea (nee Ewles), of Sauble Beach passed away peacefully at the age of 77 years, with loving husband Cliff, devoted daughter Melissa Travis, son Jeremy Travis at her side on Sunday March 29, 2026. She was at the age of 77 years. Beloved wife of Cliff Bilyea of 7 years; and the late Bill Travis of 45 years (2013). Peg Bilyea was born in Brampton on June 9, 1948, surrounded by love and leaving behind a legacy of kindness, caring and love with many cherished memories. She was preceded by her parents Jim and Betty Ewles. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Cliff Bilyea, whose love and companionship brought her great joy in her later years. Peg was the loving sister to Steve (Kathy) and Reg (Linda) and a proud and devoted mother to Melissa and Jeremy. She adored her grandchildren, Devon and Abby, who brought her endless happiness. She will also be fondly remembered by her nieces, and nephews, 7 stepchildren, 15 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren, spouses, in-laws and families, all of whom who have been touched by her warmth and generosity. Peg has a deep love for the beach and created countless treasured memories at her trailer in Sauble Falls before making Sauble Beach her full-time home. Her kindness and welcoming hugs (She was known as the “hug Lady”) made a lasting impression. Over the years she was an active member of her church and community. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Brampton for 45 years. She was on the executive of the South Sauble Community Church for 30 years, and a member of the Sauble Beach United Church for 30 years. Peg was on the executive of the Oliphant Young at Heart, a member of the VON Smart Program, and a Sauble Sandpiper. She enjoyed travel and theatre with Cliff and was the family memory keeper, picnic and celebration organizer. She was full of joy and deeply thankful for a blessed life. She will be deeply missed by all who know her. Family wish to express their gratitude to the Care Partner nurses, PSWs, and the doctors at the Hudson’s Cancer Unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie. Friends visitations are Friday April 24, from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel in Sauble Beach. There will be a private service for immediate family on Saturday. Donations may be made to Royal Victoria Hospital Cancer Centre in Barrie, the Owen Sound Hospital, Sauble Beach United Church, or South Sauble Community Church with thanks. Friends visitations are Friday April 24, from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel in Sauble Beach. There will be a private service for immediate family on Saturday.

    Cliff and family – we were shocked to read of Peggy’s passing today, but so happy to know she is not suffering the daily pain she was enduring lately.     So sad to hear of her passing. What a wonderful smile on such a lovely person. That last hugs we got was last summer at a concert at the square. Was always nice to see her and Cliff at the car shows too. Yes indeed she loved Sauble Beach and enjoyed every day. God Bless.

    Peg fought this battle so valiantly. She was “My Hero”, which I told her many times.
    She handled her final days “her way”
    She will be so missed by ,not only her family, but her Church family. We will miss her “hugs”

    Dear Cliff and family members. How very sorry we were to hear of Peg’s death and want to assure you of our thoughts and prayers at this time. We share the pain of your loss and offer our deepest condolences. We have many special memories of Peg. Our first introduction to this kind and loving woman was as supervisor of the South Sauble Community Church. Peg and Bill were active members and attended Sauble Beach United Church in the off season. Both loved God and followed in His way. Peg’s warm and welcoming spirit was always evident. Also obvious was her love and life and especially of you, Cliff, and the life that you shared together all too briefly.     Our hearts are heavy and saddened at the loss of Peggy, and our deepest sympathy for those friends and family most impacted by her passing.     Peg was a beautiful lady. When attending our VON SMART fitness class she always had a smile on her face and was always such a caring lady loved by everyone. I will remember her fondly and wish I could have spent more time with her.

    Our condolences Cliff, Jeremy, Melissa and to her dear grandchildren Devon and Abby and soon-to-be Patyn. The children are so thankful to have spent time with their grandma before her death and be at her side when her soul left this earth. We will miss Peg, but her memory will always be with us.     So sorry for your loss. Although we didn’t get to meet your Peg, she sounded like an amazing woman. Now, you have to navigate life without her. The hardest part. I am sure your family and friends will be a strong support for you, in the days ahead. Cindy kept us updated on her condition. May it be of some small comfort to know that she is out of pain and in a better place.
