Rita McMahon, of Hepworth, peacefully at Brightshores Health System – Wiarton on Thursday, October 9, 2025. Margaret “Rita” Cairins McMahon (nee McLean) at the age of 96 years. Loving wife and best friend to the late John McMahon (2015) for over 65 years. Cherished mother of Anne Marie (husband Stephen Howard), Elizabeth (husband Glen O’Grady), John (partner Anne Chambers), Michael, Peter (partner Sandi Nixon), Brian (wife Laurie), and Ken (partner Patricia Ramroop). Proud grandma of 12; and great-grandma of 8. Sister of Nancy McCauley, of Alliston; and sister-in-law of May McMahon, Anthony McMahon, Jim Logan. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, William and Peggy; sisters, Janette Logan, and Anne (Jim McMahon); brothers-in-law, Thomas McMahon (Frances), and Joseph McMahon; and Jimmy McCauley; and sister-in-law, Mary (Joe Bruce). Rita’s children are so grateful to their brother Michael for the love and care he has given their mom over the years. The family also wish to offer their sincere appreciation to Dr. Barrett and his staff, and the compassionate nursing staff of the Wiarton Hospital. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Rita will be held at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Saturday October 18, 2025 at 2 o’clock.
