January 13, 2024 at 10:12 pmMy condolences to Ken Junior and Jade. I first got to know your mom when we worked together at a summer resort at Lake Rosseau in the summer of 1965, called Fort Kwandag. We were just 14 and 15 years of age at the time. Sandra was a dedicated employee for the Ministry of Housing in Toronto for a number of years, and we always kept in touch while I was working there from 1969 to 1985. She was very kind, and loved her family very much, and had a strong kind nature. I only heard of her death a day ago, and just now found her obituary, saying she was buried just yesterday. I’m glad she finally came home to Cape, which she always missed, as she grew up here, and always wanted to come back home one day. Sorry I missed her burial. I will always remember our happy times, and am sad I didn’t get to see her since she moved out of Wigwaming Terrace some years. I went looking for her once, when I happened to be in Toronto, but heard she had moved. I am glad to have known her, and she will be in my prayers. She would want you boys to do well. I know she had a hard life with the loss of her sisters and brothers, yet she struggled on, and had a positive outlook on life. She was friendly like her dad Stanley, and strong like her mother Ester. Take care, and know that your mom had friends who cared about her. Sincerely, Jean Akiwenzie, Chippewas of Nawash.

January 25, 2024 at 1:36 pmSo sad to hear of Sandra’s passing. She and her sister Sally and myself were best friends through four years of High School sharing the same home room and the same subjects. Took breaks and lunch together. Rip Sandra. You were a very special lady
