More than once in the early ’90s, Ted would be reading the stories to be published the next day when he was in at night and would call me to point out an error in a story Id filed that day, saving me what then would have been a middle-of-the-night call from a copy editor. Ted had my back. Im sorry to learn of his passing. My condolences to Mary, Judy, and all of his family.

For many years I would speak with Mr. Briggs at the Sun Times with various sports stories at the Elementary School level. Whether it was a basket ball score or a distance in the triple jump, Mr. Briggs took the event very seriously, recording the information as if it were a NBA championship game or an Olympic Gold Medal Event. Mr. Briggs created a lot of positive memories recognizing an athlete’s skills.
I am sure many student athletes still have their newspaper clippings that recognized their accomplishments.

My deepest condolences for your loss, he will be truly missed.
Ted would always say to me at the end of parade march, as usual Bryan you were the only one in step and he would have a grin on his face, that became a standing joke and a good laugh when I would see him downtown for coffee.
I am sorry I can’t be with you at the Legion for Ted’s memorial but I am sure he would be proud.
    Rest in peace scoop.

My deepest condolences, Mary, Judy, and family, as you mourn the loss of your dear Ted.
He was an awesome gentleman whom people loved and enjoyed being around. He will certainly be missed by everyone who crossed his path. He was a fountain of knowledge and always had a good story to tell. I remember how excited he was when he was hired in the sports department at the Sun Times. He was made for that position. Rest in peace, my friend.
I am unable to attend the funeral, but rest assured, you are all in my thoughts.

Ted was a family friend of the Georgas family and always knew he could get a story from Louis, Bill Jimmy or Earl. He reflected on their athleticism in skiing, golfing and even fund raising. Ted connected with Earl through the Legion as well. When I was beginning research for my trilogy of books I had the pleasure to speak on the phone with him and he was very interested in my quest. I thank him for his memories and permission to quote some of his articles for the sport recollections of my GEORGAS family. My condolences to his family. Lili Anne Holding

I worked with Ted at The Sun Times in the late ’80s and early 90’s and my overwhelming memory is of his never-ending bank of stories which he never tired of sharing, and of his elephantine memory. He could trot out facts and figures on anything sports related from the Scenic City at the snap of a finger. Other subjects, too. His fount of knowledge was missed when he retired.
Here’s to your final -30- Ted.

Ted and I often crossed paths when he worked at the Sun Times and I was a broadcaster at
CFOS. He loved to “scoop” our Sports Guys, sometimes sharing a tib-bit of info with a sly-grin. He loved his local teams and did a great job of boosting Owen Sound. He is remembered and missed.
