Virginia Koshan Passed away peacefully at Gateway Haven, Wiarton, on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
Virginia Koshan (nee Ciemiega) at the age of 81 years. Beloved wife of Ernie (2008) for 43 years.
Cherished mother of Terry and his wife Carolyn of Georgetown; and Andy of Colpoy’s Bay.
Devoted and loving Babcia of Spencer and Skye.
Sister-in-law of Jenny Ciemiega of Toronto; Jerry Koshan and his wife Judy of Calgary; and John Handiak and his wife Carol Wilson of Toronto.
Sadly missed by her many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Bernice Ciemiega; her brother, Edward Ciemiega; her sister-in-law, Elsie Handiak; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Russ and Sue Koshan.
Mom’s enthusiasm and zest for life were daily examples for us. “I love you” was the easiest thing she could say, when we were with her, there was no other place we would rather be. She wore her positivity, support and spirit on her sleeve, whether she was with family, volunteering in the community or with friends.
Mom thoroughly enjoyed living with a view of Colpoy’s Bay and the variety of birds she passionately observed and fed.
Mom and Dad couldn’t have made a better pair and were fantastic parents.
In short, Mom was a natural and we will miss her greatly.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful staff on 3W at Gateway Haven, as well as Drs. John Van Dorp and Cathy Hanley, for their compassion in caring for our mom.
A private family interment will take place at Colpoy’s Bay Cemetery.
Arrangements completed at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, Wiarton (519) 534-5341.
Donations to Muscular Dystrophy Canada or Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy.
Condolences may be expressed on-line at www.whitcroftfuneralhome.com

September 17, 2024 at 3:52 pmTerry, Carolyn, Andy, Spencer, and Skye,
We are so very sorry for your loss. I have so many fond memories of spending time at the Colpoy’s Bay house with Ernie, Virginia, and you all – boat rides, campfires, meals together, time at the dock/shore, and evenings by the fireplace. Your mom always made us feel so welcome and loved. May your memories, stories, and times together be a comfort to you over the coming days and years. We are thinking of you all.
With love, Gina, John and Ezra
