Thompson, Norman "Norm" - of RR#3 Lion's Head, at Grey Bruce Health Services Lion's Head on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010. Norman James Thompson at the age of 77 years. Loving husband and best friend of Jean (nee McVittie) for over 56 years. Cherished father of Rick and his wife Nancy, of Hope Ness; Kell and his wife Donna, and Blaine and his wife Carrie, both of Spry; and Myrna and her husband Sandy Dobbyn, of Strathroy. Grandfather of Erin (Goby Klerks), Angie Thompson (partner Shaun Brinkman), Amanda Thompson, Marty Thompson, Brooke Thompson, Adam Thompson, Courtney Thompson, Tony Dobbyn, and Christina Dobbyn; and great-grandfather of Lexy and Brianna Klerks. Brother of Vernice McLay (Martin), and Merle Ellis (Bill), both of London; and brother-in-law of Donna Hamms (Murray), of Blythe. Sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Norm will be remembered for his work with local 4-H; time on Eastnor Council; being "Coach Norm" to local sports teams; and a Past-Director and Past-President of the Grey Bruce Livestock Co-operative. He was a member of Spirit Rock Lodge #312 IOOF Wiarton. Predeceased by his parents Russell and Hilda (nee Mackie). Johnston, Tappani "Tap" - suddenly at his Cape Croker residence on Sunday, January 31st, 2010. Tappani Peter Lawrence Johnston at the age of 44 years. Loving father of Curtis Beeswax, of Muncey First Nation, and Evan Jones, of Cape Croker; and grandfather of Brook Tappani George. Cherished brother of Cheryl Johnston, Mary E. Johnston, Kenneth Johnston, Jemelda Lee Johnston, and Eric Johnston, all of Cape Croker; Rozella 'Prin' Johnston (partner Richard Marler), of Innisfil; Tara Johnston, of Orillia; and Angela Johnston (partner Bill Ruland), of Saugeen Ojibway Territory. "Uncle Tap" is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and sadly missed by his many cousins and friends. Tap is predeceased by his parents Orville Johnston and Delena (nee Keeshig); and was the grandson of Alex Johnston and Beatrice (nee Jones), and Gregor Keeshig and Mary (nee Akiwenzie). Cherished mother of Billy (Mary Anne), Freddy, Eva (Jerry), Marie (Dan), Wayne (Nancy), Susan (Terry), Mike, Patty (Dennis), Kathy (Tom); and Dolly's Guardian Angel, her grandson Nick (Samee). Fondly remembered by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Devoted sister of Ross Johnston (Dorothy), Keitha (Don Keeshig), Charles Johnston (Betty), Ted Johnston (Phylis), and Bernice (Lorne Hill). 'Aunt Dolly' to her many nieces and nephews. Forever remembered by her grandchildren, especially Trevor King, Dawn Indoe (partner Scott Wardrop), Cherie Indoe, and Amber Indoe; and great-granddaughter Korrina Indoe-Wardrop. Devoted grandma to Nikita Maisie Roote; Brody, Breanna and Brynn Roote; and Leda Roote. Bailey, Barbara "Barb" - of Wiarton, courageously after a short battle with cancer surrounded by her daughters and sister on Saturday, January 2nd, 2010. The former Barbara Elizabeth Irvine at the age of 66 years. Cherished mother of Sarah Proulx (Michel), of Smithville, and Jessica Bridge (Scott), of Wiarton. 'Gramma' to Alexander and Conner, and 'Grandma Kitty' to Sam and Jenna. Loving sister to Jane Irvine, of Vernon, BC, and Steven Irvine (Joan), of Big Bay. Aunt to Jennifer and Katherine, of Vancouver; Seth, of Toronto; and Elly, of Owen Sound. Predeceased by her parents Nathaniel and Barbara; and her infant brother David. Barb was a Registered Nurse for over 25 years, and will be forever remembered for her love of her grandchildren. Loving husband of the late Audrey (nee Urbshott) for 50 years. Cherished father of Lois Keays, of RR#6 Wiarton; Allan, of Montreal; Rachel Hepburn (and friend Hans Kohler) and Norm and his wife Charlene, all of RR#5 Wiarton; and son-in-law Garth Keays, of Wiarton. Devoted grandfather to Graham Keays,Gillian Keays, Ryan Hepburn and Ben Hepburn. Brother-in-law of Jack Urbshott (Margaret), Bob Urbshott (Gladys), Herb Urbshott (Norma) and Ozzie Thompson. Predeceased by a daughter Barbara (1983); his sister Joyce Crawford (late Charlie); and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Art Urbshott, Marj Thompson; and his parents Harvey and Elda. Bill owned and operated Hepburn's Sawmill for more than 50 years, and was proud member of the Bruce Peninsula Sportsman Club. At Bill's request cremation has taken place. Durance, Ruby "Pat" passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Gateway Haven, Wiarton on Tuesday Dec. 1st, 2009 at 90 years of age. Sadly missed by her loving partner Lorne Hepburn. Predeceased by her husband Jason Durance and sons John and Jason. Mother of Carolyne (Bob) Forbes, Torn (Brenda) Durance, Cathy (Charlie) Houser, and Doris (Harold) Fleming; and mother-in-law of Sue Durance. Pat is forever remembered by her 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 brother-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Bishop, William "Bill" Robert - Retired Ottawa Police Sergeant, of Tobermory, in his 65th year, after a courageous and good-humoured battle, passed with family and friends at his side in London on Sunday, November 8th, 2009. Forever missed by his wife and childhood sweetheart of 50 years Judith "Judy" Anne Bishop (nee Atmore); his father Walter Raymond Bishop and the late Elizabeth Ruth (nee Thibodeau); and sister Janice Marie Primeau (husband William). He leaves behind a loving legacy as dad to daughter Arlene Bishop and son William Brent Bishop (wife Bren); and Papa to Jordan, Owen, Donavan, Jenna, Alyssa, Bryson, and Hayden; and a large extended family and lifelong friends everywhere. Kelly Elgin Charles Akiwenzie at the age of 82 years. Loving father of Emily (Ivan Preston), of Alberta; Liz Akiwenzie, of London; Wanda (Ken Loon), of Ottawa; Bradley Kiwenzie, of Cape Croker; Kelly (Jamie Lepage), of Cornwall; and Rene Chegahno, of Cape Croker. Charlie Shoot was proud to be a grandfather of 27 and great-grandfather of 15. Brother of Joan LaValley, of Owen Sound, Archie Johnson (Joyce) and Justin Johnston, all of Cape Croker, Teresa (Werner Zach), of Purple Valley, and Monica Johnston, of Owen Sound; and brother-in-law of Georgina (Jonah Elliott), Juanita Pawis, Laura Wells, George Waukey, and Derrick Waukey. Hershey, Ruth Eleanor - of Sauble Beach and Waterloo, suddenly but peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Monday, August 10th, 2009. The former Ruth Eleanor Rush at the age of 88 years. Cherished mother of Rev. Stephen Hershey and his wife Dee, of Osoyoos, BC; the twins Brian of Cambridge; and Beverly, of Kitchener. Dear grandmother of Brett (Meghan Smith), Tim (Michelle Pickett), Morgan Jeanette Wismer (Dan Dietrich), Kaitlyn Ruth Wismer (Jordan Bonneville), and Samantha Ruth; and great-grandmother of Michele, Jade, and Curtis. Predeceased by her loving husband Rev. Sidney J. Hershey (2007) of almost 65 years. Ruth Eleanor was born in Woodford. She was a proud graduate of Owen Sound Collegiate Vocational Institute. During WWII she was employed at Queen's Park and met her husband, Flight Sergeant Syd Hershey. After three children, she entered teaching, specializing in Corrections. While raising a family, working full time, she was honoured with a Life Time Membership in the United Church Women, and completed a Bachelor of Arts at Wilfrid Laurier University. In 1964, a family cottage was purchased at Sauble Beach, and she began an active relationship at North Sauble Community Church. She loved the beach and assumed many leadership roles at the North Sauble Church. During retirement, Ruth and Syd spent their time in Florida, Sauble, cruise ships, and Waterloo. Their passion for square dancing continued as did her support of the United Church and her commitment to criminal justice issues. Family invite friends to gather with them in celebration of Ruth's life at the North Sauble Community Church on Sunday, August 16th, 2009, where a service will be held at 3 o'clock. Albert Arnold "Arn" Bennett - of Red Bay suddenly at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound, on Tuesday, September 9th, 2008. Albert Arnold Bennett at the age of seventy-eight. Arn leaves behind: son Michael (and his wife Deborah); daughters Virginia Bennett (and her husband Michael O'Brien), Constance (and her husband Rick Storrar), Rebecca (and her husband Peter Gavidia), and Sarah Bennett; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He will be missed by sister Marlene Davidson (and her husband Ross), brothers-in-law Ellery Hepburn and Mac Burke; and sisters-in-law Grace Cruickshank, Joy Couch, Ruth Parrest and Esther McCleery. Ernie's positive outlook at every step in life was a great benefit to all he met. An accomplished principal, teacher, coach and realtor, Ernie's legacy of love, compassion and understanding will live in each person who had the privilege of knowing him. Husband of Mary (nee Wright); father of Pete (Dawn) of Fergus, Dave, Scott (Shannon), Kent (Josie), all of Wiarton. Grandfather of, according to Zeke, "the best looking bunch of grandkids you've ever seen": Zeke (Crystal), Amanda, Melissa (Scott), Drew, Tyler, Davyn, Anna, Sam, Erica & Jack. Zeke was owner/operator of Jack Myles BA/Gulf Station for 25 years. He was a proud member of the Wiarton District Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years. Zeke appreciated his many connections with the community. Literally - "Jack of all trades - master of none". He enjoyed his variety of endeavours and his career as a sailor, gas attendant, ambulance & hearse driver, fire fighter, car washer, grave digger, labourer, apple picker, stone mason, janitor, gardener & grandfather. A hard working and honest man; his quick wit & smile will be missed by all of us. John Kroezen, of RR#1 Hepworth, passed on to glory in his 103rd year; with his family's blessing that our Father in Heaven would bless his going to sleep and his awakening. And what an awakening it was…in an instant, his last breath on this earth was his first breath in Heaven - from mortality to immortality. Loving wife of Ellery for 58 years. Nadjiwan, Kimberly "Kim" - of Cape Croker, suddenly in Toronto after a courageous battle with Lupus, on Thursday, June 7th, 2007. Kimberly Susan Nadjiwan in her 48th year. Loving mother of Tricia Young and her friend Trevor, of Whitecourt, Alberta; and Aaron King and his friend Sandra Ives, of Wiarton. Cherished daughter of Ernie and Lil Nadjiwan, of Cape Croker. Beloved sister of Brenda Nadjiwan (Dave Towndrow), of Newmarket; Shelley Cornelius (James), of Sherwood Park, Alberta; Paul Nadjiwan (Judy), of Cape Croker; Michael Nadjiwan (Gloria), of Stittsville; and Tim Nadjiwan, of Nepean. Kim will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Friends are invited to call at the Thomas C.
