In 1971 Art returned home to Purple Valley and accepted employment as the first and only Police Officer on Cape Croker First Nation Reserve, where he worked as an R.C.M.P. officer. After three years he transferred to the Ontario Provincial Police where he became a regular officer at the Wiarton Detachment.
