Arlene Grandine February 23, 2026

Arlene Grandine, of Owen Sound, and previously of Georgian Bluffs, peacefully at Chapman House, Owen Sound on Monday February 23, 2026. Arlene Lenore Grandine (nee Morrison) at the age of 88 years. Beloved wife of Bill for over 67 years. Dear mother of Craig and his wife Sherri of Owen Sound, and Nancy and her husband Steve Desborough, of Georgian Bluffs. Cherished grandmother of Quentin, Charlie (Camila), Elizabeth (Willie Peterson), Matthew McCartney (Amy), Ashley McCartney, Danielle (Jessiah Suter), and Michael Desborough (Kaylan). Great-grandmother of Myles, Maelyn, Avary, Milee, Rhyse, Breanna, Jessa, Evelynne, Mayah, Elsie, Hazel, Kyrah, Devon and Niibin. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Agatha “Gay” Morrison; brother, Douglas Morrison; sisters, Marion Morrison, Shirley Sutherland; Karen Stopps, and Donna Simon; and sister-in-law, Charline Shantz.

A living angel is wearing the wings she has always deserved. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was the heart of her entire family, always handcrafting all of her gifts from Afghans to hats, mitts, scarves, and even hand knitted teddy bears that quickly became her grandchildren‘s favourite stuffed animals.
She never wasted anything, you could always be certain that any gifts she gave would be wrapped in a cereal box with the recipient, always hollering “Yeah!! Cornflakes!!”
She always had a stock pile of China dolls to give to her 3 granddaughters and her 12 great granddaughters to give them on their birthdays with the age they were turning on the doll.
She loved traveling, especially with family.
She loved reading her books down by the lake or while catching some rays on the patio chair.
She loved long walks in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter, and she would never turn down a glass of white wine after a long day.
She was the only great grandmother we’ve ever known that could navigate her way through technology better than a teenager, and always learning more from her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was a great storyteller, always remembering every person and every little detail often arguing with Bill about the details.
She was the only person ever known that could wrap her legs into a pretzel.
She always gave the best and tightest hugs, whispering “Where have you been?” and “Don’t wait so long to come back”.
She is a living angel that is now wearing her wings and she will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her.

Dear Sherri and Craig and family. I am so sorry to read of your Mom’s passing. Sounds like she was quite the Grandma – I love that she wrapped presents in the cereal boxes. I’m sure you have many wonderful memories to bring smiles and tears. Sincere sympathies to all of you.
