Bernadette Mildred MacLean passed away suddenly on May 21, 2026 at her cottage in Sauble Beach, Ontario, a place she loved. She was 87 years young. As an avid walker both in Burlington and Sauble Beach she could be seen clocking in more steps in a day than any of her children could in a week. Her parish community, both in Burlington and Sauble Beach, were very important to her. She was determined never to miss a morning mass regardless of the weather. She always enjoyed the company of those who said the morning Rosary and of the very few who could keep up with her on the walk home. Mom will be dearly missed by her children, Susan Jackson (Mark), Morinville, Alberta, Shawn MacLean, Burlington, Sally Payette (Luc), Perth, Ontario, Sharon MacLean, Burlington. Nana’s family grew to include 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren from Alberta, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Beijing, China. All of whom will recall many hot days at the cottage, a big smile, a warm hug and a “Hiya doin?” She will finally be reunited with her husband of 45 years, Gerald (2005) and youngest son Steven (2024).
“You may grieve now, but I will see you again and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you” (John 16:22)

June 3, 2026 at 4:35 pmOh sadly here at St Patrick’s church in Burlington,we are very very saddened to lose our dear companion at the daily masses and Rosaries. Bernadette was a glowing example to all of us of what it means to be a faith filled Catholic. Her. infectious smile will remain with us for ever. And plus her commitment to walking many miles per day amazed all of us. God bless all of you who are mourning the loss of such a lovely lady.
