Our dear Brendan James Giles Martin, age 32, passed away suddenly. Brendan is survived by his children – Gerald and Isabella, age 2 – his partner Brooke, his parents Howard and Lori, his sister Jessica (Rostom and Cole); and brother James. He is also survived by his Grandmother Annette Keeshig. Brendan is pre-deceased by his Granny Vera Martin, Grandfather Peter Martin, Papa Giles (Jiggs) Keeshig, Uncles – Raymond, Jim and Danny, along with close cousins.
Brendan had many close connections with all his relations and friends. He had a great sense of humor and could talk at length on a topic he was passionate about. He loved music, playing guitar, and performing. He loved his Anishinaabe heritage and advocated strongly for centering Anishnaabe culture in mental health and addictions services. Brendan wanted to help and support the needs of those struggling with their mental health and help those suffering with substance use.
Baamaapii minwaa gigiwaapmin to a wonderful Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, Relative, and Friend. Until we meet again.
A visitation will be held for relatives and friends on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341. Brendan will then leave on his journey for cremation.
In lieu of flowers we are asking for donations for his children which will go into a trust account. E-transfer to: BrendansLegacy99@gmail.com or a cheque payable to Lori Keeshig-Martin (266 Prairie Road, Neyaashiinigmiing, Ontario, N0H 2T0).
