It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our sister, Cheryl Fay Craig, at Gateway Haven at the age of 75. Cheryl was born April 11, 1950 to Robert (Bob) and Beatrice Craig of Wiarton. She is survived by her siblings Jim (Vicki), Robert (Donna) and Wendy Landon (Brian) and by her nieces and nephew Erin Kirst (Steve), Jessa Craig (Chris) and Todd Craig (Jamie).
Cheryl was admired for her unwavering determination, strong sense of independence and steadfast belief in herself. She took great pleasure in keeping active and engaged with a wide array of local pursuits, from square dancing and darts to bid euchre and cheering on baseball and hockey games in the community. Her love of knitting and crocheting brought her not only joy but also a deep sense of pride in her craftsmanship.
The Craig family extends our heartfelt gratitude to Community Living for the devoted support, care, and compassion shown to Cheryl throughout the years. We are also deeply thankful to the dedicated medical and nursing staff at the Owen Sound Hospital, Wiarton Hospital and Gateway Haven for their kindness and professionalism during her time in care.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial visitation at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Tuesday, July 29 from 1-3 PM. A graveside service will occur at 3:15 PM at Bayview Cemetery, Wiarton.
In honour of Cheryl’s memory, donations to Community Living, St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 208 in Wiarton would be appreciated. Messages of condolence and shared memories are warmly welcomed online at www.whitcroftfuneralhome.com

We have been the funeral home of choice for many families because of our knowledgable staff & exceptional care and service.

We are so sad to hear of Cheryl’s passing. She was a really nice person. She came into our shoe store a lot, if only to talk. Please accept our sincere sympathy at this sad time. You are all in our thoughts. We have known Cheryl and her parents since we moved here in 1986. Great gal.

July 23, 2025 at 10:30 pmI am saddened to read that Cheryl has passed, and that I’m going to be out of town and will miss the visitation and service.
I got to know Cheryl when we both were involved with square dancing – nearly 35 years ago! Later in life, when I worked in Wiarton for several years, we regularly ran into each other and had good visits. Cheryl always took a keen interest in whatever I was doing. She always seemed to have a project on the go too! She will be missed. My condolences to Wendy and the rest of the Craig family.

July 28, 2025 at 1:02 pmSending my thoughts & hugs to the Craig family during this sad time. Felt like she was part of my family when she cared for my daughter Dawn while I worked. She slept overnight & had her ready for school when I would arrive home. A good influence & Dawn has many wonderful memories.
