Daniel Giles Keeshig age 67, passed in the late evening of February 5, 2025 at 11:34 pm at the Owen Sound Hospital. Daniel Giles Keeshig, “Dan the Man”, was very much loved and will be deeply missed by his daughters Kayla and Echo, and his mother Annette. Beloved brother and brother-in-law to Kelly and Larry, Lori and Howard. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews Jessica and Rostom (Cole), Lacey and Zeyad (Karolina, Zayn, Kristiano, Zara), Rae-Anna, Brendan (Gerald, Isabella) and James. He is predeceased by his father Giles “Jiggs” Keeshig. Danny shared many great times with his many relatives and friends.
Daniel was a devoted father. He was always very proud of his two daughters: often boasting of their accomplishments like any proud father would. He would always pick up the phone when in need and will be remembered by his daughters for his “world famous” spaghetti and giant bonfires. Daniel had a true passion for watching sports and hockey, with his favourite team being the Montreal Canadians, and he wouldn’t miss a game. He loved to be outdoors, and he was a big reader with his favourite genre being war novels and Indigenous People and their culture.
Our family is deeply grateful to the Chippewas of Nawash Health Centre Nurses and Personal Support Workers who went above and beyond to help Danny. We are sure they shared a few laughs together.
Chi Miigwetch to the Nurses and Doctors in Wiarton and Owen Sound for their continued help and support throughout Danny’s illness.
May Danny’s journey be a good one as he joins our Ancestors with their arms wrapped around him.
All at Maadookii Seniors Centre a four-day sacred fire is held ending Sunday evening. Visitation to take place from Saturday February 8 from 4:30 pm to 4 pm Sunday. Sunday at 3 pm there will be a Sharing of Words and Memories followed by a feast and Danny’s farewell drive around Neyaashiinigmiing.
Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041.

March 3, 2025 at 1:42 amToday, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to
my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic
but I had to tell someone!
