Donald “Donnie” James Weldrick – of Toronto, originally from Neyaashiinigmiing, passed away peacefully at St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, on Friday January 12, 2024, at the age of 64 years. Devoted father to Nicholas “Nick” Corbiere, of Toronto; and stepfather to Brian, Cheyenne, and Cora-Lynne Corbiere, all of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation. Dear brother to Thelma Elliott, of Toronto, Gloria Weldrick, of Toronto, and Angela Weldrick, of Owen Sound. Pre-deceased by his mother, Aleda Weldrick (nee Elliott), of Neyaashiinigmiing, and father, Clayton Fidler, of Hanover; brother, Charles Elliott; special brother and sister, Merredith “Dovie” Elliott, and Melody (nee Elliott); and the devoted Grandparents, Pearline (nee Chegahno) and Roger Elliott who lovingly raised him and his siblings alongside their children Adela Levi (Frank), and Melvin Elliott (Shirley). He will be sadly missed by his nieces, Janine Manning, Jasmine Manning, Ashley McGregor and nephew, Jess Manning, and many cousins. Family invite friends to gather for visitation at the Maadookii Senior Centre, Neyaashiinigmiing on Tuesday January 16 from 11 AM to 1 PM, where a service to celebrate Donnie’s life will take place at 1PM. Pastor Tony Chegahno officiating. Interment in Little Port Elgin Cemetery, Neyaashiinigmiing immediately following the service.
