Eldon Robert McCutcheon passed away suddenly at his Georgian Bluffs home on Saturday September 23, 2023 at the age of 67 years. Devoted husband and best friend of Dawn (nee Miller) for almost 48 years. Loving father of Michelle McCutcheon, of Georgian Bluffs, and Colleen McCutcheon and her husband Terry Stewart, of Heidelburg. Dear brother of Murray and his wife Sharon, of Waterloo, Dennis and his partner Edith Davis, of Balmy Beach, and Carole and her husband Brian Ainsley, of Wiarton; and brother-in-law of Pauline McCutcheon, of Balmy Beach, Stephen Miller (Bev), of Miller Lake, Lauren Miller (partner Ian Lamont), of Owen Sound, Sandy (Kevin Walsh), of Miller Lake, and Karen (Bruce Fisher), of Northern Bruce Peninsula. Sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Eldon’s family invite you to visit with them at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Wednesday September 27, 2023 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday from 12:30 – 4 PM at the family home (402371 Grey Rd. 17, Georgian Bluffs; casual dress – blue jeans encouraged). The family invites you to join in a lunch served from 12:30-1:30 PM followed by a Time of Sharing at 2 o’clock. Private family interment in Oxenden Cemetery. Due to severe allergies, flowers will not be received. Instead please consider making a charitable donation to Bruce Peninsula Minor Hockey (s.bpmha@gmail.com for e transfers), or to the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation Super Dad’s Endowment Fund.     Dawn, i can’t begin to explain how shocked and saddened i was to hear about Eldon.I always
    enjoyed playing hockey with him and had been looking forward to once again joining him in the
    OSGA games.Great guy and will be missed by all of his teammates.My thoughts and prayers are with you.

    Michelle and family, I am so sorry to hear of your beloved father’s sudden passing. I loved hearing and seeing pictures of your adventures, motor cycle trips and work projects together. Your dad definitely lived life to the fullest and shared his enthusiasm with those he met. I often think of you and your family as I head up highway 6N as I approach the OPP station.

    I only met Eldon once while we were on. Snowmobile trip. He led the way and we saw many beautiful sights on the peninsula. He was a terrific guy. I remember he helped me install new runners on my sled. I am shocked and saddened at his sudden passing. My sincere sympathy to the family during this most difficult time. Chuck Mallette

    To Dawn and family……so sorry to learn of Eldon’s passing…played hockey with him for a few years with the Shallow Lake Oldtimers and some this summer with the 65+ hockey group. My thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.

    I remember Eldon as a great person who looked after his mother and father as well as his entire family. Time goes fast. Be thankful for every day.

    Dawn, I was shocked and saddened to read of Eldon’s passing. He was a friendly and larger than life presence in our hockey dressing rooms over the last few years at Shallow Lake, Owen Sound and arenas further a field. Every member of the 2022 Owen Flounders that flew to Kamloops to represent Ontario in the Canadian Senior Games lived vicariously through yours and Eldon’s cross-country motorcycle adventure. While we flew to Kamloops, you two rode your huge motorcycles. You both had the wind in your faces and were making memories all along the way. Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your family’s loss. Eldon will missed and not forgotten by those that had pleasure of knowing him.

    Dear Dawn,
    I very recently heard about Eldon’s passing from Janis Randal, and wanted to contact with you. Please accept Sandy and my sincerest condolence to you and your daughters. I recall only meeting Eldon on one or two occasions, but in our conversations over the years while tending the rats and mice, it was clear how much of a soul mate he was to you. We are truly sorry for your loss.
