Isabel Cora Millette (nee Lavalley) passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Tuesday September 2, 2025 in her home with her children by her side. Isabel was born in Neyaashiinigmiing on March 5, 1933. Isabel was born to Gertrude and Frederick Lavalley and she had 11 siblings. Isabel was predeceased by her loving husband Frank Millette, son-in-law Douglas Elton, son Frank (Sonny) Millette and grandson, Douglas Paul Elton. Isabel and Frank raised nine children, Gloria Elton (Doug), Karen Millette, Sonny Millette, Teena Millette, Janice Millette, Byron Millette (Roberta), Ross Millette (Marie), Lana Millette and Sandra Haradyn. Isabel was adored by and will be missed by numerous grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and a few great, great grandchildren. Isabel was an educator, social worker, politician and a highly ambitious women whose vision, determination and actions impacted the lives of countless people in positive ways. The family would like to say Gchi-Miigwetch (Thank-you) to Dr. Lothstein, Dr. Fenn, nurse Tammy, and All the nurses and PSW’s who provided Isabel with care and comfort during her time of need. Visitation services will be held at the Maadookii Seniors Centre, 33 Maadookii Cres, Neyaashiinigmiing, Ontario on September 4 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm and September 5 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. A celebration of Isabel’s life will be held on Saturday September 6 at 10:00am at the Maadookii Seniors Centre. An interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. A sacred fire burns at the Maadookii Seniors Centre. Arrangements entrusted to the Thomas C. Whitcroft Funeral Home & Chapel, Sauble Beach (519) 422-0041. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Team, Chapman House, 1725 10th Street East, Owen Sound, Ontario. Condolences may be expressed online at www.whitcroftfuneralhome.com
