Jeanne Evelyn McFarlane (nee Knox) passed away peacefully at Golden Dawn Senior Citizen Home April 24, 2025 at the age of 88 years. Jeanne was born in 1936 to Charlotte (nee Ballard) and Archie Knox. After her father’s untimely passing, her mother moved the family to Fergus. Jeanne and her sisters Corrine (Charlie), Joyce (Allen), and Carol (Roger) grew up and graduated High school in the small town. Then it was off to Toronto for Jeanne to attend OCA in preparation for a teaching career. Here she would meet Glen McFarlane and begin a marriage (1951) that would celebrate 60 years. In 1969 the couple adopted a baby boy, Tom. They added a special little girl, Tossa, in 1971. Their lives were happily busier. All was well until Tossa became ill. Jeanne became a rock for Tossa to lean on, with a miraculous operation extending Tossa’s life significantly. Upon retirement, Jeanne and Glen moved to their beloved vacation property on the Bruce Peninsula, where they spent their time entertaining friends and family. They attended Pike Bay United and became an integral part of the community, always ready with a chat or a dog cookie for their neighbours and furry friends. Jeanne’s commitment to her family was unmatched. The loss of Tossa in 2021 was a tragedy for the whole family. Glen’s passing in 2022, another blow. However, Jeanne’s spirit and positivity never waivered. Thankfully Tom’s retirement enabled him to spend a great deal of time with his mum these past years. Jeanne will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, neighbours, friends, and pen pals. Family invite friends to gather at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Wednesday May 28, 2025 for visitation from 1-2 PM, where a service to celebrate Jeanne’s life will be held in the chapel at 2 o’clock. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated. Condolences may be expressed online at www.whitcroftfuneralhome.com

May 16, 2025 at 11:23 amGlen and Jean were precious friends, One time at a church meeting at Barb Mielhausen’s a storm rolled in and Glen followed us ladies down the highway to make sure all were ok. Their home at Pike Bay was filled with love and your Mom’s quilts were shown with pride! Their honey was the best to and certainly worthy of Royal Winter fair awards. Treasure your memories
