It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Jesse Neil, who began his Spirit Journey on August 11, 2025. Jesse was the cherished son of Wayne Neil and Marjorie Solomon, and the loving brother of Scott, Rachel, Karen, and Anna. He was a proud uncle to Tyme, Damion, Journey, Honor, and Cedar-Ann, each holding a special place in his heart. In the Anishinaabe way, Jesse walked gently yet firmly upon this earth, honouring his role as a loyal son, a protective brother, a guiding uncle, and a faithful friend. He carried the teachings of our ancestors in his heart, and his generosity flowed like the rivers that nourish our homelands. Those who knew Jesse will remember his laughter and the way he could make everyone smile, his wisdom shared in quiet moments, and his unwavering presence when you needed him most. His life was a living prayer for those he loved. We will gather to honour Jesse’s sacred life and send him home to the ancestors at the Maadookii Senior Centre in Chippewas of Nawash, Neyaashiinigmiing on Thursday August 28, 2025 at 10 AM. All are welcome to share in song, prayer, and stories, as we wrap him in love and gratitude for the journey he walked with us. Though he has left the physical world, Jesse’s spirit will remain a guiding light, walking beside us in the winds, in the water, and in the heartbeat of our people.
