Lorraine Blacklock March 21, 2025

Lorraine Blacklock passed away peacefully at Brightshores Health System – Lion’s Head, on Friday, March 21, 2025. Iona Lorein Blacklock (nee Holmes) at the age of 93 years. Beloved mother of Joan (Don Williamson), and Janice Blacklock, both of Wiarton, Karen (Bev Parkin), of Sauble Beach, and Natalie (Dave Whalen), of Owen Sound. Cherished grandmother of Phillip Williamson, Sonya Mak, Jeff Blacklock, Jennifer McGregor, Adam McGregor, Garrett Whalen, and Nicole Wilson. Treasured great-grandmother of Matthew, Tyler and Jarett Williamson; Vivian and Evan Versluis; Nikolas and Christopher Girouard; Brody, Sam and Zoey McGregor; Noah and Emery Whalen; Ty and Wes Wilson and great-great-grandmother of Asher and Brant Williamson. Beloved sister of Dorothy (Vic Tyndall), and Sharron (Joe McLay), both of Wiarton. Dear sister-in-law of Betty Hopkins, of Tobermory and Eunice Blacklock, of Saint Mary’s. Sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Vincent and Mary; husband Clarence Blacklock; brothers Lloyd and Harvey Holmes; and sister Bernice, in childhood; and a son-in-law, Allan McGregor. Family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff of the Lion’s Head hospital for their wonderful care.

Lorraine was born in Lion’s Head and spent her early years growing up in Miller Lake. As a young woman, she worked in Lion’s Head at the outpost hospital, before moving to Wiarton with her husband, Clarence. There she raised four daughters. Lorraine remained in Wiarton, where she spent a number of years working at Gateway Haven. Following retirement, she spent many hours working in her flower gardens and volunteering, for which she received an award. She was recently admitted into the Lion’s Head Hospital, where she died peacefully, completing her life journey.

    To The Families of Lorraine Blacklock.
    We are so sad to hear of the passing of Lorraine. She was such a nice person. Whenever we would meet, she always had a smile and a good word. She did a lot of work for the Propeller Club as well. What a great person.

    To all Lorraine’s family. My thoughts and prayers to you all. I knew Lorraine for many years. Worked together at gateway haven ,and more recently our many chats at senior exercises.
