Lyle Butchart March 10, 2025

Date of Funeral

March 14, 2025

Of Wiarton, surrounded by his family at Brightshores Health System – Wiarton on Monday March 10, 2025. Lyle Emerson Butchart at the age of 84 years. Loving husband and best friend of Kathryn “Kathy” Butchart (nee Reckin) for 46 years. Dear father of Shari Butchart and her partner Gerry Hanson, of Windsor, Carlyle Butchart and his wife Catherine, of Caledon, and Sheilah Butchart and her wife Lauren, of Hanover. Cherished grandfather of Shaye, Keara, Jacob, Ethan, Adam, and Brody. Predeceased by his parents, Elbern and Vera; and a brother, Duke.
In a career that spanned 40 years with the United Co Operatives in Wiarton, Lyle was dedicated to his work. Whether he was working in the mill, driving the truck in his early career or greeting and serving customers at the storefront, he was always a friendly face. As a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, Lyle enjoyed riding around on his 1959 Harley Davidson Pan Head that previously belonged to his brother Duke. A proud member of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group, he met many friends along the way. Lyle’s kindness and gentle nature will never be forgotten, and his memory will forever ride on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Kathy and family wish to thank Dr. Hanley, the staff of Gateway Haven, and the doctors and nursing staff of the Wiarton hospital for the wonderful care given to Lyle. You are invited to visitation at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton on Friday March 14, 2025 from 11AM – 1PM, where a service to celebrate Lyle’s life will be conducted in the chapel at 1 o’clock.
